Looking back on the Swiss baseball session 2016
As it always has been after each season, team managers and representatives of the National baseball league has met to summarize past season and forecast the coming one.
Head of the Technical Commission, Thomas Benz, was the first one who expressed his thoughts on achievements of the team in 2016. He noted it was rather successful season with a lot of good games. In addition, finally tournament rules (which at last will be the same for all teams) have appeared this season. During last years these rules and regulations had been changing a number of times. Thus players and teams’ managers felt a certain lack of stability.
Denise Dubendorfer, head of the referees’ commission, was pleased to report that 194 different umpires worked during the season 2016. According to specialists it is rather impressive figure. On the other hand Denise Dubendorfer noted that the quality of the referee’s reports and the implementation of the dress code still need some improvements.
Registration for the referees and scoring classes are available online.
The meeting was also focused on the following topics:
Tournament Rules NLA 2017: Will be similar to the rules of 2016.
Tournament Rules NLB 2017: Will be similar to the rules of 2016.
Swiss Cup: since 2017 Swiss Cup will not be conducted.
All-Star Game: submit applications in writing to the SBSF office. The game will be held in the middle of the regular season, not at the end as it was before;
Baseball season 2017 will start in 2017: 22 / 23 April.
