Following an analysis of BaseballSoftballUK’s work with clubs over the last funding cycle (April 2013 – Oct 2016) we are happy to report that thanks to the efforts of BaseballSoftballUK and its staff baseball clubs have received £103,688* in grant and income support. This is cash that has gone directly into the pockets of baseball clubs in an effort to help them achieve their own development goals.*£103,688 as of October 2016, but there are additional grants worth up to £9,700 still awaiting decision.The grants have come from a variety of sources, including Sport England’s Small Grants programme, Sportivate, the Youth Sport Trust, Satellite Clubs, Inspired Facilities and BSUK’s own development budget.  The single largest grant recipient was the Richmond Baseball and Softball Club, which received £47,069 in 2013 to redevelop their facilities at Connare Field. The remaining £66,819 was used to cover the cost of equipment for new teams; coaching for outreach programmes at schools, colleges and universities; coach bursaries to attend courses; marketing and posters for recruitment; visits from expert/guest coaches; and venue hire for indoor winter practice.

BaseballSoftballUK’s National Development Manager Will Lintern said:

“It is fantastic to see so many clubs benefitting from not only the grants and financial aid available to them, but also leveraging the support available through our development staff.  I know that our team at BSUK are incredibly passionate about developing baseball and it is inspiring to see so many baseball clubs in the UK taking advantage of the support on offer. I don’t think £100,000 is enough and there are still many clubs not yet accessing funding.  Even those who are could access much more. So as a call to arms I challenge anyone who wants to help make 2017 the best year in British Baseball history: let’s get planning, let’s get busy and together let’s get even more money into the pockets of our clubs.”
