German Baseball Finals Bonn with easy Win in Heidenheim in Opener
The Bonn Capitals have won game one of the German Baseball-Bundesliga finals to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
They defeated the Heidenheim Heideköpfe 11-2 on the road on Saturday. Bonn scored four runs in the first two innings and five in the sixth to blow things open.
The Capitals were led by Bradley Roper-Hubbert and Maurice Wilhelm, which picked up three RBI apiece. Adrian Stommel collected three hits, three runs and a RBI. Sascha Lutz scored both runs on RBIs by Gary Owens.
On the mound German national teamer Sascha Koch conceded five hits, two runs and five walks in seven innings for the win. Eric Brenk closed it out. Ricardo Torres gave up nine hits, seven runs (6 ER) and a base on balls in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
