Italy get started with the win against South Africa in the consolation round of the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup 2017. Italy beat South Africa 9-2. During the game the Azzurri led from start to finish.

An RBI single by Riccardo Bertossi scored Italians first run. Then a sacrifice fly by Ricardo Paolini brought Gabriele Angioi home for the second run of the inning. Azzurri slugger Leonardo Seminati followed with an RBI single to give Italy a 3-0 advantage.

Italy add 2 more runs in the fourth, 2 in the sixth and 2 in the eight. They never need to look back, despite 2 defensive errors. South Africa always lack the timely hitting to start a rally.
