Nippon Professional Baseball announced a new tournament this week, called the Asia Championship. It will feature national teams from Japan, South Korea and Chinese Taipei. The tournament is for players age 24 and under, as they are looking to give talents ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics more international playing time at a high level. The tournament will be launched from November 16 to 19 2017 and will be played at the Tokyo Dome. NPB, Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) are sanctioning the event, which is supposed to be repeated in 2021.
