The “WBSC Premier12” is coming!
The biggest international baseball event on this year’s calendar, the “WBSC Premier12”, which will be a global battle between the Top 12 ranked Men’s National Teams in the world and also serve as an Olympic qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Games, will start soon.
The “WBSC Premier12” will be staged over 32 games from 2-17 November – with opening rounds in Guadalajara, Mexico; Taichung and Taoyuan, Taiwan; and Seoul, Korea. Representing the 12 highest-ranked baseball nations and territories in the world – No. 1 Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 3 Korea, No. 4 Chinese Taipei, No. 5 Cuba, No. 6 Mexico, No. 7 Australia, No. 8 Netherlands, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Canada, No. 11 Puerto Rico and No 12 Dominican Republic – Premier12 rosters feature athletes who have experience in the top professional baseball leagues in the world.
Guadalajara will host the Group “A” teams: the USA, Mexico, Netherlands, and the Dominican Republic.
The Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) is the host of Group “B”: Japan, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) is the host of Group “C”: Korea, Cuba, Australia, and Canada. The Korean National Team will enter as the defending Premier12.
The top two teams from each group will advance to Japan and play in the Super Round, which will determine who will be in the Final. Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) will host the Super Round and Finals.
