Only one day after being eliminated from the semifinals in the German Baseball-Bundesliga the Munich-Haar Disciples were two key players short.

First baseman and general manager Michael Stephan and starting pitcher Kevin Trisl revealed in postgame interviews that they won’t be playing for the Disciples in 2018. The 24-year-old Trisl is going to take a year off to focus on his professional career off the field, but could return to the field in 2019. The 28-year-old Stephan is leaving the Disciples in both capacities, but hopes to stay in baseball.
