The Houston Astros have released Stijn van der Meer just six games into the 2017 minor league season. The 23-year-old, who got drafted by the Astros last summer, was playing for the Buies Creek Astros. Through 19 at-bats he had collected three hits, a double and two runs. Last summer he batted .329/.404/.418. After Spring Training he jumped a couple of levels and got assigned to Single-A Advanced. He will return to the Dutch Hoofdklasse.
