After Jair Jurrjens another Dutch pitcher used the 2017 World Baseball Classic to ink a new contract with a MLB organization. Shairon Martis has signed with the Baltimore Orioles. Originally he was supposed to return to the Lincoln Saltdogs, where also a couple of other Dutch national teamers are playing. However, he jumped on a chance to have another shot for the big leagues after an ERA of 1.17 during the WBC. He will start the season in Triple-A.
