Netherlands ambassador to South-Korea, H.E. Mr Lody Embrechts, has been invited by the local organisation of World Baseball Classic in Seoul to the ceremonial first pitch of to-morrow game between South Korea and the Netherlands.

In order to be prepared for this very special occasion, last Saturday Mr Embrechts and his Korean spouse visited the Netherlands team during a practise session in Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. They made acquaintance with manager Hensley Meulens, his coaches and players and sparred with 23 Major League seasons pitcher Bert Blijleven.

Before Mr Embrechts was appointed His Majesty the King’s ambassador to South-Korea, he was Chief of Mission in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) till 2009 and in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) till 2003. His first assignment to Seoul was from 1993 till 1997 as Head Economic Department of Royal Netherlands Embassy.
