During the head department elections “Berlin Flamingos” trusts the proven management staff. The “Flamingos” president Reine Wottke surely noted: “We want to get to the first Baseball Bundesliga and to create a new youth team”.

The baseball club “Berlin Flamingos” has elected new management during the annual general meeting. The President position was taken by Reine Wottke again. Martin Wagner was approved on the position of the Youth Coordinator. Steve Meissner is a new member who now holds the position of the second President. Steve was responsible for games planning of “Flamingos” during many years in a row. Samanta Stark was his predecessor, now she will coordinate teams in the second Baseball Bundesliga during the future season. Markus Jaeger was added to the top management. He will be responsible for advertising, merchandising and partners of the “Flamingos” team, as it was during previous two years.

Reine Wottke believes, “Flamingos” is on the right way: “2016 was the most successful in the club’s history. Purposeful work towards development and vocational guidance always gives good results. Nowadays our club is very popular. Many newcomers in the “Flamingos” are the sport enrichment of the club. It emphasizes our main purpose to reach the first Baseball Bundesliga”.

The “Flamingos” team has successfully managed to keep the place in the second Bundesliga. And home games during last season have drawn attention of more than 250 fans on the “Flamingo Park” stadium”. This great audience’s response occurred mostly due to our media partner “Star FM 87.9”. Overall, we have many wonderful partners, who support our work by heart and soul, as well as financially”, – Marcus Jaeger said.

Reiner Wottke:” When Enorbel Marquez, coach and player of the National Team, was added to our team we received the best pitcher of the season. Eno has also shown the high level of game on international arena, when he played in the National Team and managed to get the 4th place. He received his own personal award “The best European Championship pitcher”. It is great success!”.

Wottke considers work with youth to be the main direction:” We constantly invest the most part of our resources into development of youth. Now, we are at the stage of negotiation with such high-quality experts as Hector Cabrera and Walter Sacasa to include them into our coaching stuff. All our teams have already been coached by the certificated couches. We plan to focus our work on youth and coaches’ training. Youth is our future! I am proud of the fact, young players from our club, John Ramirez and Eric Ortiz, have became the part of the National Team U12 in 2017”.

Organization of the baseball championship for children of school age was one of the most important events in 2016, per Wottke. It was visited by more than 2.500 baseball fans. Team of the club took the sixth place during that championship. Also, Wottke speaks with great enthusiasm about “FlaminGoSchool” project: “During one year, 360 children aged from 6 to 12 can receive their first baseball experience with “Flamingos” players for free”.

In conclusion, Wottke gave a summary of club’s purposes:” We want to develop and improve our baseball more and more. We want to get in the first Baseball Bundesliga. We want to make baseball of the highest level in the capital and give players a reason to came back to Berlin. We want to reinforce our newly created youth team and support development of young talents. We also want to improve the infrastructure of the “Flamingo Park” up to the level of the first Bundesliga”.
