Format finalized for 2017 Season in Italian Baseball League
Last weekend the clubs of the Italian Baseball League and the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) met in Bologna to finalize the format for the 2017 season. Eight teams split into two pools will start into the IBL season on April 13. Padule will promote to the Italian Baseball League.
Group A: UnipolSai Bologna, Nettuno Baseball City, Parma Clima, Padule
Group B: Rimini, T&A San Marino, Tommasin Padova, Novara
During the first two rounds of the regular season they will play a double round robin within their division. Two games are scheduled each week, while games can be played from Thursday to Sunday. Afterwards all eight teams will play an interleague single round robin against the opponents of the other division. The only break will be for the European Champions Cup, where three IBL teams will participate with Bologna, Rimini and San Marino. Afterwards best-of-five semi-finals and finals will follow.
The Coppa Italia won’t be played prior to the season as discussed early this winter, but instead parallel to the playoffs. A Final Four will conclude the Coppa Italia on September 16 and 17.

I am looking forward for the playing season start. In winter there is lack of baseball (( But in spring games will start! Now managers form teams, change couches if it is needed. Preparation for the season is in Schwung. I heard Ukraine has actively started to participate in baseball life. It was surprising for me. But, it seems this country has rather strong players. I read BioTexCom team is 21-times champion of Ukraine! Wow, it’s fantastic!
