Technika Brno adds Andrew Medeiros, Peter Gehle / John Hussey stats
The Czech Extraleague club Technika Brno is adding two import players for the 2017 season, while a third stays with the team. John Hussey will return for a third straight year to Technika and will serve as head coach and pitcher. The Australian is a former Minor Leaguer of the San Diego Padres, who was 5-6 with an ERA of 3.97 in 15 games this past year.
The other two players are transferring from France to the Czech Republic. Left-handed pitcher Peter Gehle was 5-6 with an ERA of 2.72 in 14 games for Arvernes Clermont. The 28-year-old from Flagstaff, Arizona got drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2010, spent two seasons in the Pioneer League before joining the independent league circuit.
Andrew Medeiros won the Belgian Championship with the Deurne Spartans in 2015 and with the Rouen Huskies the French Championship in 2016. With Huskies, he batted 353 with 19 extra base hits, 43 runs and 36 RBI.
