The Austrian Baseball Bundesliga will significantly change in 2017. The new format of league will include 10 teams, which will be divided into two divisions. In addition, each team will have more games and for the first-time playoffs matches will have quarterfinal.

The main peculiarity of the new format is that it divides into East and West divisions. The official name of the new league will be presented during the next meeting.

In addition to the first and second rounds of games in divisions each team from one division will hold two games in one day (Doubleheader) against each team of other division. After regular season, which consists of 13 meetings and 26 games for each team play-off matches will be held in new format – quarterfinal, semi-final and final. In quarterfinal, teams which take the second place in the division will meet the teams that take the third place in other division. They will play the series of games until two victories. Only in the semi-final winners of both divisions will reach the playoff, where they meet in dual with winners of quarterfinal and will play the series of games out of three victories.

As it was before the final will be held in the format until four victories.
