The most unique champion is James Francis Thorpe (1887-1953). He did not touch the heights of baseball. But he became a legendary champion of the Olympic pentathlon and set several world records. In 1913 he was stripped of medals because of the fact he became professional baseball player. In 1992 he was returned all his medals posthumously. He became known primarily as a versatile athlete, baseball and football player.

Jackie Robinson was a person who has changed the vision of people with dark and light skin. He united people of different skin color and made them equal to each other. He became famous fighting in the cause of justice in the army, when he refused to sit at the end of the bus, where African-Americans had to sit. Playing in the “Dodgers” team all light skin players presented a petition to exclude Jackie Robinson from the team. But he bear up against it and showed America how real African-Americans can play baseball. “Dodgers” team has won 6 national league championships in a row. It was absolute record for that time. Jackie Robinson showed high level of game. But he did not play for the team or country. He always played only for people. He became a black legend of American baseball.

Physically handicapped baseball player showed everyone that each person can do impossible things as he did. He played baseball in the university and for ten years in different teams, and it was despite the fact he had no right hand. He is a famous pitcher Jim Abbott, who changed world’s opinion that baseball is playing only by strong and skilled. In addition, he was one of the most highly paid pitchers in the history of American baseball.
