The “Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg” announced that former “New York Mets” minor leaguer Kai Gronauer remains their head coach through the 2017 season. The soon to be 30-year-old took over for Ivan Rodriguez midway through the regular season on an interim basis. Regensburg then clinched the second seed in the southern division and surged through the playoffs into the finals of the German Baseball-Bundesliga, where they lost to the “Mainz Athletics” in four games. Gronauer had retired from his active career at the end of the 2015 season.
