Japan Day was hold by “Glaskonning Twins” and Wim van den Hurk
“Glaskoning Twins” hosted Japan Day in Slottebosse Toren stadium in Oosterhout in the framework of Hoofdklasse post season game 2016. Geert Snellen who is the club chairman and president of Euro League Baseball Wim van den Hurk greeted Japan Ambassador Hiroshi Inomata. He was invited to bunt the ritual first pitch of the last game with starting pitcher Keiji Uezono on the mound.
The previous pitcher of “NPB” pushed 62 pitches in contrast to 18 HCAW batters in 5 innings with 3 hits and no runs. Two hours before play-ball with hundreds of Japanese dwellers in Netherlands, 9-0 shut-out and the Japanese festivities were completed by three twins relievers. Among other notable guests in the stadium were Korea Ambassador Jonghyun Choe ans Oosterhout mayor Stefan Huisman. Blessed champion of ANA return flight to Japan had number 370, drawn by pitcher Uezono who participated in the winning game.
The prior “NPB” pitcher, Keiji Uenzo and “Twins”, willingly wrote autographs and took photos with fans after they got victory in the game. Keiji told that it was wonderful opportunity for him to reside in Oosterhout and play with “Twins Honkbal”. Many fans came to see the last play in 2016 and he was very grateful for their support.
