“ASD Rimini” wins Coppa Italia
Even though “Unipol Bologna” has win Italian Baseball Series, “ASD Rimini” defeated “Nettuno Baseball City” with the score 10-3 in the final of the Coppa Italia Final Four. That is why, they got a place in games for European Cup next year.
“Rimini” took a quick 5-0 lead after three frames en route to the win. Ennio Retrosi and Daniel Mayora had three hits apiece and combined for five RBI. Stefano Desimoni reached base five times and scored four runs in the game. Stefano Giannetti had three hits for “Nettuno”.
Ricardo Hernandez earned the win with five solid innings on the mound. Eulogio De La Cruz got charged with the loss. “Rimini” had beaten “Tommasin Padua” in the semi-finals on Friday, while “Nettuno” downed “T&A San Marino”.
There was the earthquake in Italy the week before the game, so moment of silence was held to honor the victims of disaster.
This was great. Very cool to look at baseball in Europe. I can’t say I know too much about the pro level there, but the youth side is on the cusp of being able to be among Europe’s best with the likes of Italy, Germany, and The Netherlands. A buddy of mine is doing a year abroad in Florence and is playing baseball there. He’s in a lower league but they still have some very wealthy guy that sponsors the team and bought my friend all new gear, including catching gear. I only get occasional updates and it’s a lower league so this was a great read! Baseball reference looks to have it in the Italian League on level with the KBO. I think, to learn more about international leagues and development.
