Highlights from the epic thriller between “Munich-Haar Disciples” and “Mainz Athletics”

The playoffs in the German Baseball-Bundesliga are set. Last weekend a couple of make-up games decided over the last open spot and the remaining questions in the seeding of the teams. The drama started on early Saturday afternoon. The “Stuttgart Reds” could have clinched the fourth spot with a win over the “Mannheim Tornados”, but lost 2-9 in the crucial matchup at “Roberto-Clemente-Field” in Mannheim. The “Munich-Haar Disciples” saw their playoff hopes back alive, when they took the field against southern champion “Mainz Athletics”. However in a thrilling back and forth affair they lost 6-7 in 14 innings handing Stuttgart the last berth anyway.

In the quarterfinals the top four from the north face the top four from the south. The “Bonn Capitals” square off against the “Reds”, while Mainz takes on the “Untouchables Paderborn”. Additionally the “Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg” face the “Hamburg Stealers”, while the “Solingen Alligators” and the “Heidenheim Heidekoepfe” meet in a rematch of the 2014 finals.
