The 19-year-old Italian catcher Cesare Astorri has signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics.

He will report to Arizona in February. He was part of a group of Justin Prinstein’s and Mauro Mazzotti’s International Stars Showcase in Phoenix last fall and made an impression with the scouts on hand. He then received an invitation to a tryout by the A’s and scored a professional contract. Last season he played for Collecchio in the Serie A of the Federal Championship in Italy.
