Italian Baseball League Semis: Rimini, San Marino prevail in dramatic Openers
The Italian Baseball League semi-finals started on Friday with the first two games of the best-of-five series.
ASD Rimini defeated Unipol Bologna 6-5 in ten innings. Rimini overcame a 0-4 deficit in the last two innings and then scored twice in the top of the tenth to secure the win. Nicola Garbella had the crucial hit with a two-run single in extra innings. Riccardo Bertagnon also drove in two for Rimini. Osman Marval went 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI for Bologna. Ricardo Hernandez struck out five in four scoreless innings of relief for the win. Filippo Crepaldi got charged with the loss.
The second semi-final on Friday was even more dramatic. T&A San Marino edged out Angel Service Nettuno 1-0 in 13 innings.
