In a championship game the United States finally have captured a World Baseball Classic title. Team USA beat Puerto Rico 8-0 at a near-sellout crowd at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. Marcus Stroman and the American bullpen led the way by combining to allow just three Puerto Rican hits in the game.
For the USA its their first world title since the 2009 Baseball World Cup and the first win in four World Baseball Classics. Japan (2) and the Dominican Republic had won the first three events. Puerto Rico is finishing in second place for the second time in a row. They had reached the final as only undefeated team.
At the plate Ian Kinsler opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the third. RBI singles by Christian Yelich, Andrew McCutchen (2 RBI overall), Brandon Crawford (2 RBI) and Giancarlo Stanton extended the lead afterwards.

Well well well the US of A finally pulled one off, I’m very proud of all they done to make our Country the best of the best Thank you team America. Puerto Rico made Stroman look like Bob Gibson, lol. And I don’t know why Beltran was talking about crime and problems on island during pre-game interviews. It was not the right place for the discussion and seemed to be deflating. The mainland has its own issues with the economy, crime and even more seriously with political uncertainty. What a downer of a conversation to have before an athletic contest. Still USA USA USA USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They may have won that silly tournament but Americans are NOT the best of the best in MLB. Considering the US team beat 3 of the best teams in the WBC without even having many of the best American players on the field. Either way the USA would have one. World Baseball Classic, this was more like Territory Baseball Classic.
